NO is always an option. There are circumstances in which the physicians decide that surgery is not the right option: the child’s condition is too fragile. There are situations in which the family decides it is just not a good idea. In these instances, it is important that the medical team support the family in their decision and not abandon them and that they help them understand potential future complications.
