With problems of the CNS, we can’t be too much in FIX mode every day. We need to understand where we are at. And sometimes the hospital environment complicates things.

A pediatric palliative care doctor who specializes in children with severe neurological impairment talks about how problems of the CNS require a different approach — “This has been a problem that has been going on for a long time. I’m not addressing the whole picture if I’m in FIX mode too much.” Also, we need to keep in mind that for these children, the stimulating hospital environment can sometimes make the child more irritable.
